Named Distinguished Professor of Education by Penn State in March 2014.

Appointed by the Harvard Board of Overseers as Visiting Scholar in Maternal and Child Health in the Department of Maternal and Child Health at the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, Massachusetts; in residence at the Harvard Injury Prevention Research Center during 1988–89 academic year.

Lifetime Achievement Award from University Council on Workforce and Human Resource Education (see for “significant contributions throughout their career to research, practice, theory, and policy of workforce and human resource education,” June 2018.

Chapters contributed with R.M. Baker (“Sampling strategies and power analysis) and T.
